Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2013
You could easily get lost in the fairytale Sarah Burton has created for Alexander McQueen pre-fall 2013. But where wintry, fur capped whites conjure up images of snow queens and ice palaces, communion lace gowns and sweeping robes borrow their inspiration from the realm of religious dress.
Burton’s collection sways between the irreverent mix of thigh high boots-come-pilgrim shoes and short hemlines, and the ecclesiastical demureness of heavy floor-length gowns. The detail is intricate, the silhouettes surprisingly flattering even in caped-back robes (but then, McQueen is always conscious of the waist and this collection is no exception).
